Set Apart

Jeremiah 1:5

[God says,] "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

What an awesome feeling it is to know that your destiny is still in the forming stage. Don't worry about friendships that do not last or people who walk out of your life; they are not supposed to be with you when God's purpose in your life is fulfilled. In the meantime, concentrate on Him and the direction He has for you. Before you know it, all the things you have been set apart from seem meaningless. Could the problem be you are still holding onto what God is trying to set you apart from?

Becoming a Legacy

Deuteronomy 4:9

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.

Never forget where you came from, the people that prayed for you to get to that point, or the struggles you pushed through to reach the finish line. More importantly; share that story with not only your children, but all children so that they may be able to avoid some of the same struggles in their years to come.

Cleaning House

John 15:2

[Jesus says,] "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

Every now and then, the pruning or discarding of unnecessary things in our lives must occur. Too often we walk around with the pains and disappointments of yesterday and never allow ourselves to move forward. Today, cut off all the branches from your past which have hindered you from becoming the best you can be. You may need to start with some of the people you hang with.

I Need An Angel

Psalm 91:11

"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways."

With all the forces in the world trying to trick you into falling away from God's grace; God has even more forces protecting you from these evil beings. Today, don't allow the conditions of failing health, unhealthy relationships, an unwanted job or even your finances alter your faith. Keep pressing out of these situations and know that God's angels have been dispensed to protect you.

I Can See Clearly Now

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

It's easy to lose things in the dark because you can't see; but knowing where the light it is will always keep you on the right path. If you find that you may have lost your footing on your path, read God's word and let it penetrate into your spirit. Once your spirit is lifted, your path with God will be visible again.

Time For Spring Cleaning!

2 Corinthians 5:17

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Spring cleaning is right around the corner! Throw away the old, make room for the new. Whenever you let change happen, you finally have said, ENOUGH! When we come to know who Christ is, it is because we no longer want to do things the old way, but try a new way. Today, clean your heart & thoughts from old relationships, hurts, and disappointments and allow room for the Spirit to change you.

The Peace In You

Ephesians 4:2

"Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love."

God didn't design no two people to be alike. This means that sometimes you have to put up with attitudes, personalities, and characteristics that you would rather not be bothered with. God's law is love! If we counter act attitudes with love, then peace will always win. Let peace begin in you.

Oh How Excellent!

Acts 1:8

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

When the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon you, people automatically see the difference in you. Your reactions, your responses, and your overall demeanor will exude excellence. Today, wherever you go, be a witness of excellence to everyone who sees you.

Let’s Meet!

Hebrews 10:25

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another -- and all the more as you see the Day approaching. "

Meetings, gatherings and get-togethers can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when you are already working with a tight schedule. The meeting you have to attend today isn't just to take up your time, but rather to keep you informed of what's going on. Don't think of your next meeting as just a waste of time; but rather take new energy with you. Your energy may be the difference in encouraging the whole group.

Move! Get Out The Way!

Mark 11:24

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Notice, the scripture says, "you have received it." This tells me that before we even go to God with our requests; His will is already in place for our victory. Whatever you have already prayed for, know that God is two steps ahead of you clearing out the path for your praise dance. You may have to move some things out of the way on the path, but remember, the word says, "You have received it, so stop worrying about it!"

Look To The Hills

Isaiah 43:3

"O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling."

When you don't know what to say when you need God to direct your life, consider this verse. As long as you keep positive things in front of you, you will get positive results. Today, if it looks, sounds or even appears negative, step away; it will throw you of your course.

Love Your Neighbor…

John 13:34-35

34I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. 35By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.'

As I awoke to hear the devastating news of the tsunami, I immediately began to pray for my west coast neighbors. Even if you have never met your neighbor, baked them a cake, or even stopped to say good morning, it is important to pray for them anyway. You never know when they will knock on your door, but they will feel a blessed assurance knowing someone will pray with them. Today, love your neighbor as you love yourself.

Talk to God First!

Job 2:9

[Job's] wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!"

Even Job had the closest people in his life try to turn him from God. Sometimes, the decisions we make in life are influenced by the company we keep; and sometimes, they give the wrong advice. Today, before making a big decision, just plain and simple…talk to God!

Just Add 15 Minutes

Psalms 1:1-2

Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers; but their delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law they meditate day and night.

You sleep at your best when you follow God's law. If you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night for not reason, check with God. If you find yourself waking up every morning doubting a decision you have made, it's because God is still not pleased with your direction. Try adding 15 more minutes in the morning and in the evening to meditate and worship with God. You'll see how the decisions you make in the day will help you sleep at night.

Stronger Than You Realize

2 Corinthians 12:9

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness..."

When faced with a weakness, it is not our job to agree with it, but to change it. Feeling weak should only take a moment, not a lifetime. When you fully understand that grace not only helps you face your weaknesses, but helps you knock it down as well, you'll then realize your strength. Today, you're not weak; you just haven't realized how strong you really are.

Like The Dew In The Morning

Psalm 119:147-148

I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. My eyes stay open through the watches of the night that I may meditate on your promises.

Meditation in the morning sets the tone for your day. It is during these quiet moments before the phone begins to ring or before the first E-mail is read where you have a moment alone with God. Just like the dew in the morning, let his direction gently rest upon your heart so that you will remember to stay connected to Him during the day.

Minding My Own Business

2 Thessalonians 3:11

Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and wasting time meddling in other people's business.

Don't become so busy with other people's business that you have no time to straighten out your own short comings. An idle life leaves room for Satan to come in and take over all your actions; but an active life pursuing peace in Christ only leaves room for you to grow stronger in God.

A Little Exposure Goes A Long Way

James 4:14

You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

When God exposes himself in your life, He shows you just enough to get your attention to follow Him. Today, know that He didn't vanish away forever; but that He wants you to always look for Him even when you feel He isn't there.

Keeping the Vision Alive

Proverbs 29:18

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Taking your eye off your goal for just one moment can begin the perishing process. Remain focused or if you need to, refocus on where you want to be and keep that goal in your vision.

This Morning When I Rose…

Isaiah 50:4

He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.

Waking up to the sound of your alarm clock is merely a reaction to noise. Waking up and knowing God was with you through the night forces you to listen to what He has in store for you today. Today, don't just react to noise, but rather, listen carefully to everything being presented to you and you'll see God's lessons for your purpose unfold before your eyes.
