2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
INSPIRATION
Power, Love and Self-discipline are all necessary tools given to you by God to help you break down obstacles and overcome all your fears. Whatever you stand in the need of right now, know that it's already in you to succeed. Your theme for the new year should be, "He has equipped me with too much to fail!"
Genesis 19:26
But Lot's wife, behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
INSPIRATION
Although we have been encouraged to look back over this year to see how far we've come; God on the other hand, commands us to move forward without looking back. If God isn't concerned about your past, why should you be? Today, just be thankful yesterday is gone and look forward to what the future holds.
Luke 2:17-18
When [the shepherds] had seen [Jesus], they spread the word concerning what had been told to them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
INSPIRATION
Spreading news is nothing new. It is human nature to want to share what you have experienced with someone else. Having great news to share only pushes you to pick up the phone, text, or email someone even quicker. As the year closes out, what amazing stories can you share about how good God has been to you?
Luke 2:7
She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
INSPIRATION
A manger made all the difference when all the inns were full. The setting was simple yet powerful enough to still create a buzz for all to know about His arrival. Know that whatever plans you and God are working on right now, may not come into reality in the most dazzling places, but one thing is certain; it will create a buzz and everyone who desires to see the wonders of God will know it was the God in you to help it become a reality.
Luke 1:49
"For the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name."
INSPIRATION
While we love to see how great God has been to others, sometimes you have to look at yourself in the mirror and recognize that He has been just as great to you also. Today, if you know just how great God has been to you this year, praise Him for His greatness, His excellence and His surpassing favor in your life!
Isaiah 9:6
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." INSPIRATION: Ever since He came into this world, He has been a wonderful counselor to those who need somebody to talk to; a Mighty God to restore hope in someone who didn't think they could make it; and everlasting Father to those who have needed guidance along the way; a Prince of peace to those who desire to live in a stress free state of mind. Whatever God has been to you in your life, know that He's been that way since His birth for YOU...so thank Him right now!
Luke 1:38
"38Then Mary said, 'Here am I, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.' Then the angel departed from her." INSPIRATION: Submission to the will of God for your life will not come overnight; but be assured that the moment you realize that where God is taking you is better than where you are right now, submission is not as hard as it seemed. Today, know that God's will for you will catapult you into your purpose as long as you accept His word.
Proverbs 16:32 "Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city." INSPIRATION: Patience, listening, and compassion go much further than sarcasm, ridicule, and badgering. By allowing yourself to truly hear another person's story, you are showing them interest in helping them solve a problem. Today, allow your reactions towards other people be about problem solving and not about creating more problems.
Psalms 32:8 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you." INSPIRATION: God doesn't always give us the bottom line answer we would like, but in the meantime, he will always provide lessons for us to learn from. While the teacher is instructing, pay close attention and do not interrupt Him; for if His eye can watch over a little sparrow, He can watch over you too.
Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." INSPIRATION: Three little action words with so much power can take you to the next level. No matter how many times you've heard NO; keep asking, seeking, and knocking…sometimes God wants to see just how bad you want something.
Psalm 51:1-2 "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin." INSPIRATION: Once you've tried fixing situations on your own, try God! Allow His mercy to encourage you mentally, physically, and spiritually to a new way of thinking. Today, throw out your old way of thinking and allow God's mercy to catapult you into your blessing.
Matthew 1:23 23'Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel', which means, 'God is with us.' INSPIRATION: The message in this scripture is one word, "assurance." We will always make decisions where doubt and fear can attempt to overtake the fruition of the goal, but when you assure yourself that God will be with you, remember that over 2000 years ago, He was sent to always be with you in any situation. Today, know that God is with you so knock out your fear and go with God!
Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you." INSPIRATION: Where ever God stretches His arms, know that you are also within this reach. All that He has made is great, including you. Today, stay encouraged that even your situation isn't too hard for God. Reach back to Him to receive your power to move forward.
Revelation 22:13 [Jesus says,] "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." INSPIRATION: In order for God to have control in your life, you have to declare who He is in the beginning, praise Him in the middle, and bless Him at the end. Declare Him today to start something new in you and He will see you to the very end of that goal.
Psalm 27:1 "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" INSPIRATION: This is a psalm of encouragement to reassure us that nothing we face is too hard for God. If there is fear inside of you, release it now because it is holding you back from success. Allow God's stronghold to keep you focused on your goals and you'll never want to turn back ever again. Today, fear not!
Isaiah 43:3 "O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling." INSPIRATION: When you don't know what to say when you need God to direct your life, consider this verse. As long as you keep positive things in front of you, you will get positive results. Today, if it looks, sounds or even appears negative, step away; it will throw you of your course.
Jeremiah 33:14
"Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah." INSPIRATION: When you have moments of doubt and uncertainty, know that God is still there. It is not that He does not hear you; it is simply because He fulfills His promise in His time and not in our time. You may be tired of waiting, but just keep on pushing anyhow…your promise will be fulfilled!
John 1:9 "The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world." INSPIRATION: The Christmas season is not about preparing the shopping lists, wrapping gifts, or getting stressed about finances. Christmas or rather, Advent prepares us for the coming of Christ. As you continue to prepare your family for the traditions of this season, be sure you are also preparing your family to keep Christ first.
Proverbs 20:13 "Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare." INSPIRATION: Sleeping and laying down even when you're not tired are missed opportunities of helping you grow. Then next time you catch yourself just laying around doing nothing productive or watching the same rerun of a television show, get up and do something prolific. Remember this, in order to get ahead, you have to wake up from your dreams and put the plan in action!
Philemon 1:6 "I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ." INSPIRATION: We have more in common with other people than we like to think. Sharing your testimony with people is not only therapeutic for you, but it sometimes offers hope to someone else for their struggle. Don't just take my word…try sharing your story today and watch their reaction. You may be the answer they've needed all along.
